Epilepsy

Information for Doctors

The incidence - the proportion of patients affected by epileptic event in one year is 1%, while the prevalence or the proportion of subjects having an epileptic event in their lifetime is 8%. An important differential of a seizure or an epileptic event is a faint, as brief loss of oxygen to the brain in fainting may cause some jerks without this representing epilepsy.
